Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Lauren Winstead has been dancing off and on since the age of 4. At the age of 7 she began competing numerous dance styles with Miss Dianna's School of Dance under the direction of Diana Pfaff and Marisa Pfaff-Clevenger, where she has won several different regional and national dance titles with organizations such as KAR and Stage One. In 2006 she, graduated high school and began studying ballet & modern at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Quixotic's contemporary vision appealed to Lauren in September of 2011. As one of the newest dance members of Quixotic, she has been training on several different aerial apparatuses and has performed with them at many festivals and venues throughout the country. Bringing her own contemporary flare and whimsical personality to Quixotic's non-traditional vision, has enhanced the quality and clarity of both Lauren and the companies performances.
Samantha Mixan was born and raised barefoot, on a small family farm in rural Nebraska. She began dancing as a small, timid child at a local dance school in the basement of her teacher’s home. During her elementary years, she found focus in competitive gymnastics; learning passion, showmanship, and perseverance. Her mother drove her 45 minutes just one-way to practice gymnastics many times each week. She competed in countless meets, scoring high and even placing second at a national championship. In high school, Samantha was a varsity cheerleader for four years; cultivating athleticism, spirit, and teamwork. Her love for cheer never faded, as she has been teaching tumbling, flexibility, and cheerleading at Elite Cheer in Omaha, NE for the past seven years. Her alternative lifestyle and passion for ecstatic hoop dance led her to many performance opportunities; the most notable being professional international travel to India in 2010. In India, with the guidance of a mentor, she discovered circus arts and began training contortion and yoga. In 2012, she was discovered by Quixotic and began working with the company as a lead fire dancer. She has since performed in many shows, festivals, and productions since that time.
Samantha is fascinated by people and the limits of consciousness. She studied psychology and sociology at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, graduating with her bachelor’s degree in 2013. Samantha continues her journey through training, performing, teaching, discovery, travel, and authentic kindness.
